Maintenance & Cleaning Guide for Pleated and Sliding Mosquito Screens

Bangalore's climate is wonderful for open windows, but city dust can accumulate on mesh panels over time. Fortunately, keeping your mosquito nets clean and operating smoothly takes only 10 minutes every few months.

For pleated door nets, gently vacuum the accordion pleats using a soft brush attachment on low suction. Alternatively, wipe down the folds with a damp microfiber cloth from top to bottom. It is crucial to keep the bottom floor guide track free of grit — a quick vacuum or sweep along the track prevents premature wear on tension cords.

For sliding window screens, check that the bottom rollers roll freely. A drop of silicone spray lubricant on the roller wheels once a year keeps the sliding motion whisper quiet. Removable frame nets can simply be unclipped, rinsed under a gentle shower spray in the bathroom, dried in the shade, and clicked back into place.

Never use harsh chemical cleaners, wire brushes, or high-pressure washers on mesh, as these can stretch the fibres or damage the protective coating.
